ST. PETERSBURG — Taj Bradley tied his career high with 11 strikeouts over seven innings, and the Tampa Bay Rays rallied to beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 on Thursday night.
Bradley (2-4) allowed two unearned runs and three hits.
After Justin Steele pitched six shutout innings for Chicago, the Rays scored three times in the seventh off Mark Leiter Jr. (2-4).
Pinch-hitter Josh Lowe hit an RBI single and fellow substitute Ben Rortvedt drove in a run on a groundout in which he was retired.
Then, Cuban Yandy Díaz made it 3-2 with another RBI single.
Tampa Bay took two of three games in the series and is 8-14 in its last 22 games. Meanwhile, the Cubs have lost 14 of 20.
For the Cubs, Dominican Christopher Morel is 4-0.
For the Rays, Cuban Díaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI. The Mexicans Randy Arozarena 4-0, Isaac Paredes 4-0. The Dominicans Amed Rosario 4-1 with one scored, José Siri 3-0 with one scored. Panamanian José Caballero 4-0.
