The son of Good Magic became the third colt to win the Race of the Roses without having debuted at two years old since 1882, in that time frame only Apollo (1882) and Justify (2018) could do it.
Now, on May 20, 2023, Mage finished third in the second step of the United States Triple Crown, that is, there is no longer a triple crown option this year.
