Google This Tuesday in Brazil, it presented three new functions in the Android operating system that will be used to block a cell phone that has been stolen.
The new features will be available worldwide and will be tested first in Brazil, one of the largest markets for the American company and also a country where nearly one million mobile phone thefts are recorded per year.
One of those functions, which uses artificial intelligence, allows automatic locking of the device screen in the event of sudden movements that the system identifies as a possible theft by force.
Another function will allow the user to lock the device remotelyentering the phone number on a web page, without the need to enter personal passwords.
The third option is a automatic blocking of the device that is activated if situations occur such as removing the SIM card or prolonged loss of the internet connection.

The new functions will be tested in Brazil in a pilot program that will begin in July and in the coming months will be offered to all users with cell phones with the Android 10 operating system or newer.

In the case of Brazilian users, these functionalities are added to an application launched by the Government of the South American country last December, called Celular Seguro, which also allows remote blocking of a stolen or lost phone.
In the first six months of operation, nearly two million users have downloaded the application and nearly 50,000 alerts of robbery, theft or loss have been registered, according to data from the Brazilian Ministry of Justice. (YO)
