Three teachers lost their lives after the van they were aboard overturned in the road that connects the districts of José Sabogal and José Manuel Quirozin San Marcos (Cajamarca). The victims were returning after attending sports activities of the Pauca Santa Rosa school.

Education professionals were identified as Edwin Guarniz Cachiwho was the director of the educational center, and two teachers, Yesica Castañeda Torrejón and Elmer Medina Pinedo. Precisely, Guarniz Cachi was at the wheel of his white vehicle.

The truck fell approximately 200 meters down a cliff, causing the teachers to die at the scene. Likewise, the bodies were rescued by personnel from the Cajamarca Police Region and members of the Ichocán police station.

The commissioner of Ichocán, Robert Bardales Carrascalpointed to Andean Agency that the recovery of the bodies took around 3 hours, due to the risks in reaching the area where the truck fell.

The bodies of the teachers were taken to the region’s morgue and the director’s bodies were handed over to the relatives. Given this, the director of the Local Educational Management Unit (UGEL) from the province of San Marcos, Wilmer Vásquez Cubas, He extended condolences to loved ones for this accident.

Vásquez also reflected on the importance of life when remembering professionals. Meanwhile, he stated that he does not know what the causes of the accident that ended the life of his colleagues would have been.
