Javier Cámara and Marina Salas close the Cuyás Theater season with the play ‘Vania x Vania’, which will be performed at the Insular Theater Hall and the Cuyás Theater this Friday and Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively.

The Minister of Culture of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Guacimara Medina; The artistic director of the Cuyás Theater, Gonzalo Ubani, the actor Javier Cámara and the actress Marina Salas presented the work of Pablo Remón this Thursday. The Remón project is composed of two adaptations of Anton Chekhov’s classic Uncle Vanya.

Season closing

The Minister of Culture, Guacimara Medinahighlighted that with this work “we are closing a cycle in a big way, with a wonderful cast, which will take place in two different rooms and in two different versions.”

“For us it is important to always have the best in the world of Spanish theater and, in this case, we have been fortunate to have very important presences that have made Cuyás great,” he added.

For his part, Ubani acknowledged that “we always try to ensure that the end of the season leaves a clear withdrawal syndrome in the viewer so that they wait for the start of the next one. For this reason, this montage is, in my opinion, the best of the year and of the season.”

The first version, in the SIT, is a free adaptation of Chekhov’s text, which is performed with practically no scenery, costumes or lights. The assembly in the

Cuyás Theater has scenery and costumes of the period, and it is a classic adaptation of the work. Both can be viewed independently.

Javier Cámara He considers that through the double session “the public makes its own version of Vania, it loses respect and fear of a classic.” In addition, he revealed that it is the first time that they perform the play in two different spaces and described the experience as magical.

“That you have chosen us to close the season seems beautiful to us and, above all, in this beautiful way, in two rooms, with the public going with us, because the people who see the two performances will be running from one side to the other, like us; There is something festive about all that,” she thanked.

Marina Salas He assured that “the interesting thing about the proposal is Remón’s ability to reach the popular.” He insisted that any viewer can understand the work and empathize with it because “Pablo Remón has this ability to create a theater that does not remain elitist, but reaches everyone, because it mixes the intellectual and popular worlds.”

The work is written and directed by Pablo Remón and performed by Javier Cámara, Juan Codina, Israel Elejalde, Marta Nieto, Manuela Paso and Marina Salas.
