This is a claim from a Mapuche community, who blocked the entrance and exit to the Loma La Lata site.

In recent days, members of the Mapuche Painemil community interrupted access to a super block of unconventional hydrocarbons in Vaca Muerta, preventing the entry and exit of oil workers from the formation and, if they do not lift the picket, the gas supply is in danger. natural to the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires in the middle of winter.

According to reports, the protest began on Monday, June 25, at the access to Loma La Lata, one of the main gas hubs in Vaca Muerta, with a direct impact on the production of the main operators such as YPF.

Loma La Lata produces more than 3 million cubic meters of gas daily, but, if the road blockage continues, it is feared that it will affect the supply in Buenos Aires and other points of the gas consumption network, in the midst of a situation high demand and climate crisis with low temperatures.

Although the hydrocarbon area was left with a minimum guard, operations are not operating at full capacity, which resulted in a significant reduction in gas production. In fact, several plants in the largest conventional gas field in Neuquén are currently paralyzed.

The unusual thing about the claim is that the community complains about the lack of gas supply in the Painemil homes, which are supplied through a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) truck that was stranded in the same picket that they organized, without possibility of arriving to download the product and end the conflict. But the most serious thing about the protest was that, in addition to the LPG truck and its driver, some 300 oil tankers were stranded in Vaca Muerta due to the picket at the access to the field for almost 24 hours.

“In the case of my husband, he came in during the 6 a.m. shift and, when they went to leave, to return to Añelo, they found that they had been cut off. At that moment it was about two in the afternoon,” said the wife of some workers.

“My husband did not have anything to eat because they go for a few hours and come back, but they are not prepared for the whole day, so neither he nor those who are with him have anything to eat and they were left without water,” she warned.
