The Asunta case crowns the ranking of views of Netflix Spain these weeks. The true crime that includes the history of murder of little Asunta Basterra continues to shock viewers, who were already dismayed by the investigation of this case in 2013.
Now, the red streaming giant has shared a new clip in which we can see a comparison between the sequences of the series and the real videosas well as the moment when Candela Peña put on the wig to play Rosario Porto and the comments by Ramón Camposco-creator of this production.
“It was very important that the viewer was very clear from the first minute that we were going to tell them what had happened, hence the decision that the first sequence was the television interview of Alfonso and Rosario when they had adopted their daughter,” Campos begins by pointing out, who in 2017 was already behind the script and production of the docuseries. The Asunta case: Operation Nenúfar.
Campos acknowledges in the video that he chose actors who resembled the real figures so that each of the subsequent scenes “were as close to reality as possible“. Something that would be especially complicated in the recreation of Montouto’s house, key to the police investigation and which could not be used at any time for this filming.
In fact, those moments recorded on television were used “as a combo” together with the new recordings so that they were exactly the same, as Campos acknowledges. The video shows us on split screen some moments of the series along with the real ones, like the one in which Rosario and Alfonso arrive at the funeral home or the other one in which Alfonso confronts a journalist on the way to a garage.

This new bet from Netflix Spain takes us to September 22, 2013, when Asunta Basterra, of Chinese origin, was found dead in Teo (A Coruña), after being murdered by her adoptive parents. It should be noted that, despite being convicted, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra never pleaded guilty and the mother ended up committing suicide in prison in 2020.
