Star+ opens the month of May with Mission: Yozakura Familythe anime adaptation of Hitsuji Gondaira’s manga of the same name.

The plot of the series will follow Taiyo Asano, an introverted high school student who isolated himself from the world when a tragic accident took away his family. The only person he can properly relate to is his childhood friend, Mutsumi Yozakura, the head of the world’s strongest spy family.

Mutsumi’s older brother, Kyouichirou Yozakura, is overprotective of her since he once left her severely injured. Her love for Mutsumi is lethal, and Taiyou is her next target. To survive, Taiyou must marry Mutsumi and become a member of the Yozakura family.

Thrown headlong into chaos, Taiyou begins his journey to become a powerful spy in order to protect his wife and uncover the dark secrets of his past and the Yozakura family.

Hacks – Season 3 (premiere May 2 on Max)

After the success of its first two deliveries, Hacksthe series created and executive produced by Emmy Award winners Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky returns to the screen Max with an expanded cast. Newcomers include Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Bucatinsky and Tony Goldwyn.

The third season will be made up of nine episodes and will be set a year after the separation of the protagonist duo, while actress Deborah Vance (Jane Smart) enjoys the success of her stand-up special and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) looks for new opportunities in Los Angeles.

Tales of the Empire (premieres May 4 on Disney+)

In the same week that The Bad Batch reaches its conclusion with its third season, Disney+ presents a new animated series that will continue to expand the extensive universe of Star Wars.

Tales of the Empireis the new anthology that takes up the short film format of Tales of the Jedi of 2022.

While the previous installment visited the stories of Count Dooku and Ahsoka, this new production will introduce two new characters on their path to the dark side. This six-episode proposal is presented as a journey to the fearsome Empire through the eyes of two warriors, in different timelines.

One of them will be a young Morgan Elsbeth, a member of the Nightsisters and ally of Thrawn. The other, former Jedi Barriss Offee who, in Clone Wars, fell to the dark side and framed Ahsoka Tano in the bombing of the Jedi Temple.

Like its predecessor, Stories of the Empire will once again be supervised by Dave Filoni and will arrive on the platform on May 4, as part of the Star Wars Day celebrations.

Dark Materials (premieres May 8 on Apple TV+)

After hitting the mark with productions like Silo, Invasion and Constellation, Apple TV+ renews its science fiction catalog with a new series inspired by Dark MatterBlake Crouch’s famous 2016 novel of the same name.

With Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly and Alice Braga as protagonists, this new proposal from the streaming service promises travel in time and space, as well as a plot that will explore alternative universes.

In Dark matter, Edgerton plays Jason Dessen, a physicist, professor and family man who is kidnapped. At some point Dessen recognizes that he has been transported to an alternative version of his life and will have to find a way to get out of there without going crazy, in the middle of an amazing landscape of realities that he could have lived.

Bodkin (released May 9 on Netflix)

In May, Netflix It also adds to its catalog a dark comedy series that mixes intrigue, true crime and absurd humor.

Created by Jez Scharf, Bodkin features a cast led by Siobhán Cullen (The Dr.and), Will Forte (The last man on Earth) and Robyn Cara (Doctor Jekyll).

The plot focuses on a group of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in a remote Irish town. But as they proceed with their task, they encounter a story much bigger and stranger than they could have imagined.

The cast of the series is completed by Chris Walley (Dracula: Sea of ​​Blood), David Wilmot (The legacy) and David Pearse (The spirits of the island).

Doctor Who (premieres May 10 on Disney+)

Doctor Whothe British television classic comes to the service of Disney+ with its new incarnation.

In this season, the story will follow actor Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education) in the skin of the fifteenth Doctor. As expected, he will face endless adventures through time and space with his partner Ruby Sunday. From the Regency period in England to war-torn futures, the duo must defend themselves while encountering incredible friends and dangerous rivals.

A double episode will premiere on May 10, while the remaining episodes will be released weekly every Friday.
