Netflix makes a new Korean series shine from May 4: An atypical family. What caused the members of the Bok family to lose their superpowers? What will be the solution for everyone?

An atypical family It is a twelve-episode Korean drama, populated by shadows. And mysteries. What is the situation of each character?

Mrs. Man-heum suffers from insomnia due to her ability to predict the future. Her daughter, Dong-hee, could fly: she worked as a model, but she gained weight and is now on a diet.

They all lost their powers due to everyday stress.

His younger brother, Gwi-joo, can no longer travel in time due to depression. And the youngest, In-ah, is addicted to mobile phones. But she says: “My family wasn’t always like this. We are not very well”.

One day a strange woman, Do Da-hae, will arrive and several in the family group will think that she is the key to everything returning to super normal. “She is the savior who can restore our powers,” Mrs. Man-heum says. Everyone will long for happier times, when they felt important with their incredible talents.

An atypical family is a co-production of Writing & Picture Media and Drama House, with the support of SLL. The series is written by Joo Hwa-mi (also author of Marriage, Not Dating in 2014) and directed by Jo Hyun-taek (Sky Castle, 2018-19). Kang Eun-kyung also participates as creator (Kim, the romantic doctor, 2016-23).

At the presentation of the production, director Jo Hyun-taek stated that this series “has fantasy elements as can be felt in the word ‘hero’, but describes a very realistic story. The chemistry created by the collision of fantasy and reality is the unique charm of An atypical family”.

“An Atypical Family” was released on May 4 on Netflix.

  • Jang Ki-yong as Bok Gwi-joo, who had the power to travel back in time to happier times, but can no longer return to the past due to depression.
