In mid-2023, the Russian ‘influencer’ Maxim Lyuty was imprisoned for the death of his baby, who was barely a month old. According to the authorities of the Lazarevsky District Court, Sochi, the minor died of “pneumonia and emaciation.” The little one was fed raw food and the prana diet.

Since the child’s birth, his parents followed a terribly strict diet, which caused him to suffer from a delicate condition of wasting. According to the WHO, the term is defined as low weight for height and is the most visible and lethal type of malnutrition.

In addition, they followed the prana diet, a lifestyle that says that foods “are consumed to nourish the soul, body and mind.” The meaning of the word translates that “life support is obtained through air, sunlight.”

Maxim Lyuty denied his son, named Cosmos, nutritious foods important for his development and growth, such as breast milk. The court reports described that “raising someone who only eats the Sun and dousing him with water because they believed he was stronger,” is an act of cruelty.

The news of the death of the one-month-old child was known on March 8 of last year. At that time, there was talk of a possible sentence of more than 15 years for the man.

However, it was not until October 26 that the Lazarevsky District Court of Sochi began to examine this criminal case. According to the Russian media ‘IZ’, “the accused’s lawyer insisted during the trial that the ‘influencer’ took care of the child, fed him and bathed him.”

According to local Russian media, Lyuty and the baby’s mother, Oksana Mironova, They did not take the child to the doctor at any time during his month of life. Furthermore, he was not registered. The birth even took place at home.

During the hearing, the defendant’s lawyer told the defense that he had a list of witnesses who could guarantee that, supposedly, his lifestyle and practices with the minor were healthy.

“From March 4 to 8, the child’s condition worsened greatly: breathing became more difficult, wheezing and convulsions began,” shared the Russian media.

According to the woman’s relatives, Mironova “was apparently forced not to feed the baby.” However, the influencer’s own lawyers exposed her and said that “she practiced that lifestyle.”

This year it was determined that the child’s mother was convicted by the court and had to share part of the responsibility with the father for evading his duties. She was punished to two years of hard labor.

For his part, the Russian content creator, who was initially expected to receive a sentence of 15 years or more, only received 8 years in prison.
