An elementary school teacher was arrested this Wednesday in Wisconsin, United States, for sexually abusing an 11-year-old student. The fact became known when the boy’s parents discovered that he was talking to her on the phone and that they were sending letters from her.

The woman was identified as Madison Bergmann, 24, and was charged with first degree sexual assault to a minor, a crime that in said state provides for a sentence of up to 60 years in prison, according to the portal Law and Crime.

The alarms of the victim’s parents went off when they discovered that their son was texting with Bergmann almost every day. In one exchange, the boy wrote that he “just wanted to kiss her,” while the teacher responded: “Me too, I eat all the time.”

According to the criminal complaint, filed in St. Croix County, letters were also found in the child’s backpack that could complicate matters for the accused. In those notes, she showed that she was “obsessed with him,” since on several occasions “She told him that she loved him and that she wanted to kiss him.”.

Likewise, according to the minor’s testimony, the teacher asked him to stay in the classroom after class or during lunch to “kiss.” Additionally, the report states that the defendant “made comments about how she really liked him, that he trusted her, and that, even though he ‘felt weird,’ he liked her too.”

At the investigation, Bergmann stated that the communication between her and the boy began when the family invited her on a trip during the winter holidays of 2023 and that there he asked her for her phone number. Bergmann was released on $25,000 bail and is expected to appear in court for his next hearing, which is scheduled for May 30. In turn, he was placed on administrative leave from the school where he worked and was prohibited from contacting students, parents, and staff at the institution.
