Mahatma Gandhi statue in Italy vandalized by pro-Khalistani group, reports say. It was scheduled to be inaugurated during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Italy for the G7 summit.

Khalistani terrorists also graffitied the base of the statue and wrote a reference to Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

India has taken up the matter with the relevant Italian authorities, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said during a media interaction.

Vandalized by Khalistanis before PM Modi’s visit

Speaking on the incident, Foreign Minister Kwatra said Indian authorities raised the matter with Italian officials.

“We have taken up the issue of vandalism of Mahatma Gandhi statue with the Italian authorities. The necessary measures have been taken,” he stated.

Reacting to the development, Indian Ambassador to Italy Vani Rao said, “The incident occurred in a city called Brindisi in southern Italy. Local Italian authorities have taken steps to clean the bust’s pedestal.

We have also conveyed our concerns to them immediately. “We have asked them to locate those responsible and take action against them according to local law.”

The first Minister Narendra Modi to travel to Italy on Thursday to attend the annual summit of G7 advanced economies.

The G7 summit, which will be held in the luxury resort of Borgo Egnazia in the Italian region of Apulia from June 13 to 15, is likely to be dominated by the war in Ukraine and the conflict in Gaza.

What does it mean to be pro-Khalistani?is a term used to describe people who support the creation of an independent state called Khalistan in the Punjab region, which is currently divided between India and Pakistan.

Khalistan means “land of the pure” in the Punjabi language, and is the name that would be given to the independent state that pro-Khalistanis seek to create. This state would be based on the principles of Sikhism, a monotheistic religion that originated in Punjab.
