Wood, steel and Catalan tiles: the hallmark of the coolest hotel in the Latin Quarter of Paris

The new fashionable hotel in Paris is in the 5th arrondissement, better known as the Latin Quarter. It is the Orphée hotel, part of the Orso chain, whose design is inspired by Le Cabanon, the legendary 16 m2 house designed by Le Corbusier.

Called Orphée as a tribute to the son of Apollo and Calliope, its design is by architect Eloïse Bosredon, who declares herself inspired by the Bauhaus and who has built the accommodation around three materials: okume wood, laminated steel and the Catalan tiles, collects AD.

Located on the left bank of the Seine, very close to the Great Mosque of Paris and Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Orphée hotel makes an impact from its entrance.

Materials such as wood stand out on the countertops of some of its spaces, which are mixed with red ceramic, as well as the cheerful mixes of colors and materials. It is a decoration that oscillates between warmth and graphic and curved lines.

The hotel features original arches, soft color nuances, natural materials, elegant furniture from Maison Roches that is skillfully integrated into the decoration.

“The 44 rooms have been carefully designed as cabins dedicated to the happiness of the soul,” reads its website.

“Perfectly equipped, the rooms reserve pleasant surprises such as infinitely attractive decoration, warm and modern bathrooms and even, for some, a beautiful balcony with views of Paris.”
