The District Oversight Office of the capital issues an alert to the administration headed by Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán, due to the abrupt increase in hybrid vehicles registered in Bogotá from 2019 to date.

Apparently, according to the entity’s analysis, many people have gone to buy this type of vehicle to be exempt from the ‘peak and license plate’ measure.

According to the Veeduría, these vehicles would not be so environmentally friendly; Therefore, it requests that the peak and license plate measurement be reviewed, and that these vehicles be included in it.

“The District Oversight Office monitored the vehicles registered in Bogotá and found a very large increase between 2019 and 2023 in hybrid cars And that caught our attention because we also wanted to know if a good part of that comes from the fact that hybrid cars eliminate the need for license plates or that there really is an increase in environmental awareness and what we found is that Approximately 80% of vehicles considered hybrid that do not have a peak and license plate “They have very high gasoline consumption.”
