Jensen Huang has a unique way of writing emails and hopes Nvidia employees will follow his example.

“You got into trouble,” one former worker warned Business Insider. The CEO of Nvidia is a faithful believer that messages have to be short to be effective.

Three former employees of the microchip maker noted that Huang’s emails are typically brief, no longer than six lines.

One of them compared this style to “TL;DR”, an acronym for “very long; I did not read it”. This former Nvidia employee commented: “From the beginning they explained to us that we should write direct and concise emails, and this practice applied throughout the company, not just at Jensen.”

“The idea was to specify what you have to say, send it, and if he or others need more information, then you have a conversation, not another email,” said another former employee.

Nvidia encourages its employees to send a weekly email to Huang and his direct supervisors detailing their top five priorities, with the goal of maintaining focus.

One former employee mentions that these lists allow Huang to “measure” activity within the company. Sometimes this leads you to recommend that employees from different departments or regions communicate and collaborate with each other. Nvidia has not commented on the matter.
