According to figures from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, in 2023 microbusinesses represented close to 95% of the national business fabric. Today, the sector that most demands financing from BBVA is services with 29% of the portfolio, followed by commerce with 23% and independents with 11%. The entity highlights the impact it can have on the agricultural sector and its interest in finding resources for the development of its products.
For Guillermo González, vice president of Client Solutions at BBVA in Colombia: “Our purpose is to become the bank for SMEs in Colombia, a sector that finds in BBVA an easy-to-access option with solutions that respond to their needs and open up new opportunities for them. . For BBVA it is very important to support the growth of SMEs, since with this we are promoting the development and growth of the country’s productive apparatus and the entrepreneurs who generate employment, thus contributing to the economic reactivation that the country requires.”
The operating balance between January and May 2024 turns out to be positive. According to BBVA figures, in this period more than 9,000 SMEs have been served with access to credit, of which more than 1,900 have been pre-tested. Furthermore, the region that presents the greatest contribution and dynamics is the central region, entrepreneurs that have contributed $430,000 million, that is, 30% of the total, in commercial credit billing.
The financial institution presents a portfolio growth of 4.5% and in resources, that is, the money that BBVA manages in products such as savings accounts, deposits or collective portfolios, the increase has been 15.3% compared to May 2024 vs. May 2023.
