The renewed VW arrives with more power and an updated image.

VW has revealed the renewed Golf R and Golf R Variant, the most radical versions of the German brand’s iconic model that come with more power, an updated image and more technology.

Like the GTI, the new Golf R features a new front section with simplified headlights and an illuminated VW logo, to which is added a new, more muscular bumper.

In profile, the new matte chrome mirrors, sporty side skirts and 18 or 19″ wheels stand out. At the rear, VW has equipped the sports model with new rear lights, as well as a generously sized gloss black diffuser and an exhaust system with four outlets, which according to the brand, improves the sound of the Golf.

The German brand has not forgotten customers who are looking for a more sporty image of the Golf R and to do so they can opt for 19″ Warmenau forged alloy wheels, which according to VW have an attractive design and improve driving dynamics, since they have Weighing only 8 kg, they are approximately 20% lighter than normal alloy wheels, allowing unsprung masses to be reduced and ensuring perfect vehicle performance.

Also available as an option is an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, IQ.Light LED matrix headlights and 3D LED taillights with dynamic turn signals.

For those for whom these options are not enough, VW also has the Golf R Black Edition, with darkened headlights, dark logos and a variety of black accents, including wheels, brake calipers and exhaust system tips. This special edition of the Golf R is also equipped as standard with the Performance package.

Inside, the new infotainment system stands out, which has a 12.9” touch screen and has a new menu structure and improved graphics. In addition, the digital instrument panel has a 10.2″ screen and includes a G-force meter and a GPS stopwatch for models with the Performance package.

VW has improved climate controls and equipped the new Golf R with a new push-button sports steering wheel. This new R variant of the German brand’s iconic model is also equipped with sports seats, details that imitate carbon fiber and in blue, and a 30-color ambient light.

As for the engine, the new Golf R uses the well-known 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that produces 333 HP of power and 420 Nm of maximum torque, that is, 13 HP more than its predecessor.

Power is transmitted to the 4Motion all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and reaching a top speed, with the Performance package, 270 km/h.
