The commander of the National Police in the department reported that the murderer is now fully identified and invited him to surrender.
While he was chatting with other people while drinking liquor, Rubén Darío López Castillo was murdered with a knife.
The 27-year-old citizen had a strong altercation with another man, who unfortunately attacked him and gave him two lethal wounds at the height of the neck and chest.
This unfortunate incident of intolerance disturbed the tranquility of the inhabitants of the Quintas de Los Andes neighborhood, in the west of the city of Armenia, most of whom were preparing to rest on Sunday night and were alerted by the commotion generated by the fatal fight.
The case occurred around 10 pm on a public street in block 4, in front of house 13 in said neighborhood.
Rubén Darío had no possibility of being helped and due to the seriousness of the damage to his body, he died there at the scene of the incident.
Immediately after a few minutes, agents from the National Police in Quindío, assigned to the CAI San José, arrived, who proceeded to cordon off the crime scene and carried out preliminary investigations to gather information about what happened.

Meanwhile, the corpse lying there, before the eyes of curious onlookers, was covered while waiting for the units of the mobile criminalistics laboratory of the Technical Investigation Corps, CTI, which were subsequently in charge of collecting the possible evidentiary material and then carried out the due inspection of the body for its transfer to the morgue of the municipality of Calarcá.
In this regard, Lieutenant Colonel Luis Fernando Atuesta Zárate, commander of the Police in the department, pointed out that this murder, according to the information obtained so far, would be related to a passionate affair and that the victim and the perpetrator had already had an inconvenience previously.
He pointed out that precisely for this reason the murderer is already fully identified and that progress is being made in the process to obtain an arrest warrant against him, for which he invited him to voluntarily appear before the competent authorities and thus answer for his actions. .
López Castillo, who lived in the Berlin neighborhood of the Quindian capital, was known to have registered judicial notes as an accused of the crimes of qualified theft and personal injury, but also one as a victim of the last mentioned punishable offense.
This Monday morning the officials of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences performed the proper autopsy on the body while awaiting the arrival of the relatives for the claim procedures and thus bury him.
With this case, there are now 54 homicides recorded so far this year in the department, 29 of these in Armenia, which represents an increase of approximately 20% for the city compared to the same period in 2023.
