A team of professionals from the Ombudsman’s Office trained on the Law 2343 of 2023 to more than 20 members of the Effective Victim Participation Table of the municipality of La Unión, in the north of the department.

Officials of the Human Mobility Delegate of the Regional Valle del Cauca They informed these people that they have three years, from the date on which the victimizing events occurred, to go to one of the headquarters and declare them, without having to justify reasons of force majeure.

It should be noted that Law 2343 of 2023 modified the deadlines for those who consider themselves victims in the context of the armed conflict to present their declaration before the different entities of the Public Ministry, and if they are outside the country at the consulates.

According to him Unique Registry of Victims (RUV) Valle del Cauca is the second department of Colombia that has the largest population of victims of the armed conflict, reaching 650,699 people, of which 53.8% of the victims are women.
