In one of the years of our glorious Golden Age, This verse ran through the literary lies of Villa de Madrid: «More than a thousand works / in twenty-four hours / passed from the muses to the theater»; They alluded, with benign jocularity and admiring recognition, to the enormous literary production, especially in the theatrical genre, of our “Phoenix of geniuses”, Lope de Vega. To few people, in our times, similar words could be applied; But if such a verse did justice to anyone in Córdoba, it would be – I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this – our veteran writer. Isabel Agüera.
After the publication of his first novel ‘Searching in life’which deserved to be a finalist for the Blasco Ibáñez Award, Isabel has gone increasing and accelerating so dizzyingly the pace of his literary productions: novels published by different publishers in the country, educational theatrical games, even theatrical works for adults, in addition to his conferences, seminars, journalistic articles, public performances as a member of the Royal Academy of Córdoba, round tables…, in such a surprising way and so dizzying, almost “in twenty-four hours” as Lope de Vega, that they have earned him prizes in literary contests, as well as the granting of a Silver Medal from the Junta de Andalucía, the Gold Medal from his hometown Villa del Río, in addition to many other recognitions and awards: they were lit, dazzled bursts, from the subtle look of his clean eyes eager to discover, retain, elaborate, reproduce – and then share them – all the experiences, incidents and teachings that the life…
And now, in this golden stage of the west of its life, when it is already rotating more than 90 times around the sun, and has traveled such a long stretch of its “path to the sea”, the Villa del Río City Council has taken the decision to publish his life to “the four winds” and make it imperishable, in an autobiographical book, a hasty bird, taken to flight from the white hands and the living and mature word of Isabel Agüera herself; wise and nourishing word, like bread, that tastes of soul, of burning embers, of intimacy in the warm home… It is a book (as I state in the prologue, which Isabel has had the care of entrusting me with), of their vital experiences, radiated from an inner light of transparencies, which overflow and seek an exit through the nuanced cracks of the words: those that pulsate within this book, as within a chrysalis that has always been waiting to raise the flight…
And he has already done it.
