The north of the Valley is going through a complex security situation due to various common crime groups and organized structures that seek to gain control of the area to manage illicit economies. One of the most recent acts of violence was the harassment against soldiers of the High Mountain Battalion No. 10 of the Third Brigade, in the La Primavera village, in Bolívar, Valle del Cauca, where men on motorcycles attacked with gunshots. to those in uniform. Although fortunately no injuries were reported, the National Army announced that “offensive maneuvers are being carried out to locate these individuals and prevent new criminal actions in the sector.”
In the same way, concern is growing about the incursions of the Clan del Golfo in the department, which generate insecurity in municipalities such as Trujillo and Bolívar, although this is not a new situation, it keeps the authorities alert.. The commander of the Valle Police Department, Colonel Giovanni Cristancho, assured that this illegal group has been trying to enter the department since 2021, however, the actions of the uniformed officers have stopped their advance.
“The Gulf Clan has been causing an expansion from Chocó to the Cauca Valley. “Initially, they tried to enter through Buenaventura, but they could not due to the operations of the Public Force, so they made the decision to withdraw and now they are entering through Bolívar and Trujillo,” the uniformed man explained to El País.
An example of the above, according to Cristancho, was the arrest of alias Molina and alias Chivirico, in La Unión, Valle, a coup that occurred in November 2023, which weakened the structure. In addition, two alleged hitmen from this structure were arrested in the rural area of Trujillo on May 9, which prevented selective homicides from being committed in the municipality.

“The Clan del Golfo generates insecurity, since it restricts the movement of people in rural areas, the fact of seeing armed individuals generates insecurity, as well as homicides, but we are working with the Prosecutor’s Office, the Army and with the leadership of the Government and the mayors that are very active to prevent this group from continuing its expansion in Valle del Cauca”, concluded the Commander.
