To achieve better economic and productive results, the Granma tobacco growers spoke out during the provincial event, held on the occasion of their day, this May 29, at the Base Business Unit (UEB) Bernarda Toro Pelegrín factory, in Jiguaní.
Lisbet Katiuska Fajardo Rodríguez, director of the UEB, highlighted the favorable performance at the company level, exceeding total sales and increasing profits at the end of April.
Fajardo Rodríguez explained that the entity is creating the conditions for the planting of 309 hectares in the upcoming campaign, guaranteeing the production of 330 tons of the leaf and complying with the production of 17 million twisted tobaccos, destined for consumption and export.
In the activity, the Carlos Baliño distinction was awarded to the workers: Humberto Fonseca Ocaña, Pavel Raúl Tamayo, Luis Jorge Molina; Rosa Oduardo Cámbar, Edilsis Fernández Álvarez and Zoila Espinosa Alarcón, for their uninterrupted work in the sector, for 25 and 20 years, respectively.
Also recognized for their performance in the stage were the workers Luis Alejandro Milanés, Yarelis Peña Hernández, Andrés Nápoles Quesada and Luisa Álvarez Vázquez and the groups from the UEB Bernarda Toro Pelegrín factory and Technical Services.
Karel Leyva Trinchet, general secretary of the union bureau of the Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco Workers Union, ratified the commitment to advance and consolidate the economic-social model and socialist development as an expression of the majority support of Cuban workers.
Leyva Trinchet recognized the efforts and dedication of the men and women in the industry and congratulated them on the anniversary and in particular to those encouraged to be at the forefront of emulation.
