CGE carries out more than 80 kilometers of pruning in O’Higgins within the framework of its winter 2024 plan

With the aim of publicizing the preparation carried out by the company for the winter season, during April and May the main CGE executives in the O’Higgins region held a series of meetings with regional and communal authorities, reporting on the actions carried out. They seek to mitigate power supply interruptions resulting from climatic contingencies.

The company detailed that, starting in January, the teams and technicians on the ground carried out a series of preparatory actions to face the winter season, among which 80 non-linear kilometers of pruning and clearing of vegetation adjacent to the power lines stand out, in order to to avoid contact and/or interaction with electrical networks, to minimize supply interruptions due to said cause.

Likewise, in the region, the review of electrical distribution substations, the pedestrian inspection of 15,350 medium voltage poles, and 2,803 thermography activities were carried out, in order to detect possible points with temperature in the networks, which were resolved.

These activities began to be developed last January and ended in April, and involved an investment of almost 1,550 million pesos by CGE in the O’Higgins region.

“CGE’s Winter Plan was developed taking all measures to act in a timely manner in emergency periods, since the overhead power lines are exposed to adverse weather conditions. Our main emphasis is to mitigate the interaction with the vegetation, which has allowed us to better face the contingencies that we have had so far during 2024,” said Alex Lobos, Rancagua-Cachapoal Zonal Manager of CGE.

Action in emergencies and care of electrodependents

In the event that weather conditions are adverse, CGE has a contingency plan that provides for the reinforcement of its brigades and personnel on the ground, both for emergency response and for the reconstruction of damaged electrical infrastructure.

In turn, the company has personnel specialized in caring for the homes of electro-dependent patients and implemented a toll-free telephone number for their care, 800 203 180. With this, electro-dependent patients in the CGE concession area have access to a preferential telephone attention from the customer service platform, who coordinate directly with the technical staff the management of the teams in the field.
