Two 27-year-old men were arrested last Friday in Choele Choelafter being caught trying to steal bags of bell peppers from an agricultural establishment located on the side of National Route 250, near the highway bridge that connects Choele Choel with Isla Grande.

Minutes after 6 p.m., a phone call to the Choelense police station guard alerted the authorities about the situation.. The informant had observed the individuals in the vicinity of the rural establishment “La Esperanza”, where they were trying to enter the greenhouses from the back.

Subsequently, The same subjects were seen running along the bank of a canal surrounding the farm, trying to reach Route 250. The quick intervention of the local police allowed the arrest of those involved before they managed to escape.

Minutes later, under the bridge and just 5 meters from where the motorcycle was found, the two wanted subjects appeared, who had tried to take refuge to avoid arrest.

The detainees were identified as two 27-year-old men, both residents of Choele Choel. While this was happening, another of the officers at the scene found several bags containing bell peppers weighing approximately 20 kilos.

Prosecutor Álvarez ordered the arrest of the subjects and the indictment in a judicial case under the cover of “Attempted theft and damage”, both in quasi-flagrant degree. He also determined the restitution of the merchandise found to the injured producer.

The producer indicated that, in addition to the stolen merchandise, The subjects caused damage to about 100 top quality bell pepper plants, estimating the total damage at about 310 thousand pesos.

The motorcycle found was examined and it was discovered that it belongs to a woman from Río Colorado and that since 2021 she has been banned from driving.. For this reason, the vehicle was also seized.
