A harassment at a Police station in Cajibío, Cauca, shook that municipality in the early hours of this June 12. Added to this fact is an explosion in the center of Jamundí, in Valle del Cauca, a territory where attacks against public forces also occurred this Wednesday.

On the one hand, Octavio Guzmangovernor of Cauca, regretted the harassment by armed groups of Cajibío for at least an hour.

“Unfortunately, since early morning we were reported to be harassed in Cajibío. Thanks to the fact that our Public Force has been reinforced in number of units and rapid air support was provided, it was possible to contain the actions of these criminal groups that attack our population without measure. “So far this incident only leaves material damage, especially damage to homes.”Guzmán reported.

The governor also expressed full support for the Colombian National Police. “Cauca continues in the middle of an absurd war, which no one is winning, it only leaves us desolation and unrest. Even when?“he added.

Attack in Jamundí, Valle

During the morning of this Wednesday, an armed attack also occurred in the municipality of Jamundí, in Valle. There, the authorities defended themselves from the harassment and there is a confrontation in the area.

According to preliminary information, the harassment by groups outside the law targeted the Potrerito Police substation, in the rural area of ​​Jamundí.

Citizens also report an explosion in the center of the municipality. In images shared on social networks you can see a motorcycle on fire and a column of smoke.

​In that area, there are also several homes, commercial establishments and banking entities. The attack apparently left people injured.

The Mayor’s Office confirmed that a motorcycle bomb exploded near the main park, causing injuries to a sergeant and a patrol officer. “We ask the community to remain calm and follow the instructions of the authorities. Everyone’s safety is our priority,” they reported.

In recent weeks, several acts of violence have hit Jamundí. Only this Monday, they deactivated an explosive charge on the road that leads to the town of Timba (Valle). And on June 7, the municipality’s mayor’s office reported the explosion of a car bomb detonated in the main park of the Robles district.

Regarding the wave of violence in this municipality, Dilian Francisco Toro, governor of the Valley, announced the arrival of more soldiers to the region and blamed the FARC dissidents for these acts.

“We are not going to let ourselves be intimidated or give in in our fight against crime. This wants to generate anxiety, but we tell the community that we are working. We are going to continue with this territorial control, we are not going to let ourselves be defeated,” said Toro.
