Neuquén: The CPI was 4.9% in May

Education, Information and communications; Housing, water, electricity and others were those that showed the most variation.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May in Neuquén had a monthly variation of 4.9% and accumulated an increase of 282.6% year-on-year. Information from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) was also released this Thursday, which showed an index of 4.2% for the same month in the country.

According to the report of the Provincial Directorate of Statistics and Censuses of the province of Neuquén, the divisions that varied the most were Education (18.8%), Information and communications (8.3%) and Housing, water, electricity and other fuels ( 8.0%). For their part, the lowest monthly variations were recorded in the Health (1.9%), Transportation (2.7%) and Recreation and Culture (2.7%) divisions.

Education was the division that increased the most (18.8%), with an incidence of 0.38 percentage points (pp). The increases in primary education, language courses and secondary education stood out.

Information and communications had a monthly variation of 8.3% and an incidence of 0.68 pp. The most relevant increases were in cell phone service, telecommunications service package, cable television and smartphone cell phone.

Housing, water, electricity and other fuels registered a monthly variation of 8.0% and an incidence of 0.96 pp. The increases that had the most impact on the division were housing rent, electricity and services for home repair.

If the impact that the different divisions had is considered, Food and non-alcoholic beverages, Housing, water, electricity and other fuels and Information and communications stood out, which together represented 54.8% of the monthly increase that was registered at the General Level .

In the Food and non-alcoholic beverages category, a monthly variation of 4.6% was recorded and it was the division that contributed the most to the general level, with 1.06 pp. This is explained to a greater extent by the increases in tomatoes, zucchini, meat poultry, beef, fresh bread, invoices, soft cheeses, drinkable yogurt and soft drinks, which together represented 93.2% of the division’s total incidence. Negative variations in fruits (mainly banana and orange), sugar and sunflower oil, among others, also had an impact.
