Furthermore, the director of Acodrés added that consumer confidence is being lost “to be able to visit different gastronomic establishments.”

“Although Father’s Day does not have a commercial activity on such a scale as Mother’s Day, in a city with as many opportunities as Jamundí; All these terrifying actions are causing the opportunities and development of this municipality to disappear.”

Brany Prado, executive director for the Pacific of Acodrés.

According to Prado, in this first half of 2024 there has been a decrease in sales, particularly in Jamundí, of 69%.

One of the hardest hit sectors is tourism, as is the case of Potrerito, a rural area of the municipality; place where people traditionally go on weekends to spend their day in restaurants and natural attractions.

“This is unsustainable for any establishment and even more so when diners don’t go and you have to face the scourge of extortion. This obviously leads these entrepreneurs and micro-entrepreneurs to make decisions such as closing and ending employment opportunities.”

Brany Prado, executive director for the Pacific of Acodrés.
