On the morning of this Saturday, June 15, the Colombian Navy reported on the development of an interdiction operation that led to the seizure of 3.4 tons of marijuana.

According to the naval institution, in the midst of comprehensive maritime control and security operations in Valle del Cauca, “they intercepted two vessels manned by seven men, including four foreigners, who intended to transport more than 3.4 tons of marijuana to Central America.”

The first activity took place when a boat named ‘Zabra’ was located, intercepted by the sailors. It was manned by three men, two Nicaraguans and one Colombian, who transported several packages of different sizes, similar to those used by drug trafficking organizations to transport illicit substances.

Interdiction operations

In a second operation, the radars of the Navy’s surface units detected another suspicious vessel and proceeded to carry out maritime interdiction.

The motor ship was crewed by four men, two Nicaraguans and two Colombians, who were also transporting several irregular packages apparently containing narcotics.

Those captured, the caches and the boats, were transported to the Buenaventura Coast Guard station (Valle), and there, they were made available to the Technical Investigation Corps, CTI, of the Attorney General’s Office, which carried out the pertinent tests, determining that in The first boat was transporting 2,234 kilos of marijuana and the second, 1,227 kilos of marijuana, for a total of 3,461 kilos.

The marijuana and those captured were transferred to Buenaventura, Valle.

The National Navy estimates that these shipments would be valued at more than 22 million dollars, figure that stops entering the finances of drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific.

Likewise, nearly 600,000 doses of marijuana were prevented from being distributed in the international illegal market.
