In the municipality of Florida, located in the department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia, a violent event was recorded where three men lost their lives after being attacked with firearms.
The incident occurred specifically in the Nuevo Horizonte neighborhood. According to the first investigations, the attackers, presumably members of the Dagoberto Ramos front, opened fire without prior warning towards the victims, who died at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.
The Valle del Cauca Police confirmed that two of the murdered men had criminal records, including charges of illegal carrying of weapons and personal injury.
This event adds to a series of violent acts that worry local and national authorities.
The Ombudsman’s Office has issued an early warning, highlighting an increase in armed conflict and violence in the region, particularly between the south of Valle del Cauca and the north of Cauca, attributed to territorial control exercised by armed groups.
The Institute of Development and Peace Studies (Indepaz) has identified this tragic event as the twenty-eighth massacre recorded in the country in the current year, which underlines the persistent and serious security situation that Colombia faces in several of its regions.
