Carmen Durán Sociocultural Project, an interesting and necessary proposal

Camagüey, June 15.– The commercial cultural corridor of the Plaza Art Fair organized by the Office of the City Historian constitutes a space where artisans and their audiences achieve a direct exchange through the creation of an original and diverse aesthetic taste .

The Carmen Durán Sociocultural Project of the Ignacio Agramonte Culture House is one of those that come to the Arte Plaza Fair to offer art and culture at the hands of its skilled artisans.

The Project has been running for several years and includes people of different ages with talent and aptitude for crafts, who come to the stands that can also be visited by passersby who come to Plaza Maceo every day, who will be able to take home decorative objects made with foami, others that are based on recycling objects and others made with the paper mache technique.

They reach municipalities and communities with beautiful objects that in detail manage to capture the love with which the artisans make them, as well as are faithful proof of the skill they possess, despite not being professionals or school, as they say.

For her part, Consuelo Rodríguez García, who recently arrived at the project, said that she was able to perfect her artistic skills through it and found a family of artists united by that love for creation.

Art in Camagüey grows and becomes latent in the skillful hands of the members of the Carmen Durán Sociocultural Project, a proposal
interesting and necessary to promote the artistic creation of the Camagüey territory. (Text and photo: Idaylen Rodríguez/RCA)
