The Environment Secretariat and the Animal Emergency Search and Rescue Group – BRAE of the Official Fire Department, rescued in recent days a boa that was hiding inside the seat of a baby car.

The entities arrived in a Chapinero neighborhood after the alert call from the parents, who made the discovery. This is how experts managed to remove the reptile and take it in a box to the Center for Care, Assessment and Rehabilitation of Wild Flora and Fauna, where it was admitted for evaluation and recovery.

There, professionals assessed the animal and it was determined that it is an adult male individual more than one meter in length, weighing 195 grams, it was in good condition and showed no signs of illness, so it is believed that it had been away for a few days. from its natural habitat.

Precisely, the district entity presumes that the boa, not poisonous or of medical importance, would have entered the vehicle seeking refuge from the high temperatures recorded in Villavicencio, a municipality that the family had visited on the last June holiday weekend.

We want to make a preventive call for people on their land trips, especially to the Eastern Plains and the Caribbean, to check their vehicles before returning to Bogotá to prevent wild animals (lizards, arachnids or opossums, among others), from moving unintentionally in the bodies, engines or structures of automobiles,” said the Secretary of the Environment, Adriana Soto.
