An evening took place in the town of Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule that culminated in the early hours of this Sunday, framed in the campaign to support the island that the PCF launched last year in September during the traditional political-cultural festival the Fête de l’Humanité.

The participants agreed to carry out political and outreach activities so that the situation on the island and the consequences of Washington’s hostility become better known in France.

Likewise, initiatives were addressed for material support to the Cuban people, from the collection of medicines and funds, with an ongoing project to send prescription glasses, the local person in charge of the solidarity campaign, Jane, explained to Prensa Latina. Décriaud.

The event featured among its speakers the communist deputy and president of the France-Cuba Friendship Group of the National Assembly, André Chassaigne, and the president of the Cuba Linda association, Didier Lalande.

Chassaigne shared details of his book “Cuba, a star in the night – the fight of a people against a criminal blockade” and commented on the history of the United States’ policy of aggression against the small Caribbean country.

For his part, Lalande offered Cuba Linda experiences about the reality of the Antillean nation, obtained in the group trips that the association has been carrying out for more than a decade so that as many French people as possible can get to know the island and its people.

Décriaud highlighted the attendance at the evening, around 200 people, the interest it generated and the presence of a representation of the island’s embassy in France.

The person in charge of the local PCF campaign also highlighted that the event condemned the inclusion of Cuba in Washington’s unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
