The Municipality of Santiago filed a criminal complaint against two former police officers who, with credentials and security handcuffs included, posed as municipal inspectors inside a nightclub located in the 10 de Julio neighborhood.

In the criminal action filed before the Seventh Guarantee Court of Santiago, the municipal department exposed the situation, demanding the initiation of a criminal investigation against those involved.

It turns out that, during the early hours of Sunday, May 26, just past, Both individuals arrived at the “Amores” store located in Copiapó at number 541.a street parallel to the renowned 10 de Julio Avenue, with two specific purposes: to request sexual favors and obtain some money in the process.

This is stated in the libel reviewed by BBCL Investiga, where it is noted that it was around 3:00 in the morning when Jorge Ignacio Reyes Rodríguez and Bastián Enrique Romo Castillo They entered the nightclub. They did so by introducing themselves as municipal inspectors of the commune of Santiago.

The plan, in theory, was going perfectly. Jorge (28) and Bastián (30) wore colorful credentials hanging from their necks, making their supposed status as municipal officials present to anyone who crossed them.

“Extraordinary round”

Despite the weapons and security handcuffs they carried with them to make their version more credible, suspicions of a scam flooded the premises and soured the atmosphere.

So much so that The situation quickly reached the ears of three police officers who at that time were passing through the vicinity of the place.. According to police records, it was a passerby who reported what was happening.

“Inside the Amores nightclub there are two individuals posing as police officers,” he warned them in passing.

This is how a second sergeant Prado Jofré, first corporal Guerrero Moscoso and first corporal Díaz Machuca entered the premises to begin the procedure. This time the inspection was serious.

When questioned by police personnel, both initially stated that they were officials of the Municipality of Santiago who were carrying out an “extraordinary patrol.”

However, after a short time and faced with the impossibility of giving consistency to their story, they decided to deliver a new version to the police. This time they acknowledged that they were not inspectors and instead, they claimed to have belonged to the ranks of the Carabineros of Chile in the past.

The confession

It was then that they confessed that they were only seeking financial benefits from the owner of the premises and sexual benefits from the dancers, as stated in the complaint.

In the subsequent review, Carabineros found that both were carrying a compressed air pistol, a set of Smith & Wesson brand safety handcuffs, a curative medicine card and an institutional patch from the uniformed police.

The latter, with the legend: “CORE 2º J. REYES R.”which indicates that it belonged to Jorge Reyes Rodríguez.

The owner of the premises reported what happened to the same police officers who hosted the procedure, while for its part the Municipality of Santiago decided to file a criminal complaint.

“The facts reported by this administration are of the utmost seriousness and that is why we filed the complaint. We will not accept that any person questions the work of our officials and even less that they try to impersonate one of them to commit crimes,” they stated from the Municipality of Santiago when asked by this medium.

In libel, the municipality points out that the crime contemplated in article 213 of the Penal Code is configured, where sanctions are established ranging from minor imprisonment in its minimum to medium degrees and a fine of between six and twenty UTM, for anyone who “pretends to authority, public official or holder of a profession that, by provision of the law, requires a title or compliance with certain requirements, and exercises acts typical of said professional positions.

However, the complaint was declared admissible by the Seventh Guarantee Court of Santiago, ordering the referral of the records to the North Central Prosecutor’s Office so that those involved could be prosecuted.
