With the expectation of a contest of its kind, Challenger Ibagué Open tennis, which will have as its epicenter the modern racket complex of the Sports Park, will receive players from the top 100 in the world ranking. The event will take place this Thursday, June 20 at 10:00 in the morning at the Sonesta Hotel.

The Mayor’s Office and the Municipal Institute for Sports and Recreation, Imdri, will launch this new international event, which consolidates Ibagué as ‘House of sport in Colombia’.

It is worth noting that Nicolás Mejía, professional tennis player of the Davis Cup team and one of the representative figures of the country, will accompany this event that will welcome each of the participating delegations.

“We thank Mayor Johana Aranda and the manager of Imdri, Sebastián Perdomo, who supported us throughout the process of obtaining the headquarters and being able to count on great figures in the city,” said Alba Lucía Díaz, president of the Tolima Tennis League.

Among the prominent figures who will be part of the event will also be the nationalized Colombian Spaniard, Adriá Sorianowho in February was part of the Davis Cup in the city of Bogotá.

The match programming will begin on Sunday the 23rd and will extend until June 29with players who have participated in Grand Slam championships such as Wimbledon, Roland Garros, US Open and the Australian Open.
