The also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), accompanied by several vice prime ministers, among them the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés, presided over the fourth government visit to Sancti Spíritus.

He pointed out that the Political Bureau of the PCC awarded Sancti Spíritus the national ceremony for the 71st anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, on July 26, for stability in the fulfillment of the main tasks.

When making the conclusions, Marrero highlighted the presence in the territory of committed cadres with a sense of belonging, as well as the support of the highest authorities of the Party and the Government, “who made it possible to achieve these results,” he said.

Among them, he noted, the infant mortality rate of 3.8 – a figure that was reported in the media – one of the best in the country, and showed satisfaction with the work in order to solve the problems that most afflict the population.

He recalled that on June 4 he attended the celebration for the 510th anniversary of the founding of the former town of Espíritu Santo and that on that occasion he expressed: “Dear Spirituans, we are proud of you, revolutionary, firm and hard-working people.”

Later he indicated that “The agreement of the Political Bureau that grants the headquarters on July 26 to the province of Sancti Spíritus is not only a well-deserved decision, but it is well earned by this town.”

In the municipality of Sancti Spíritus, he visited the Zaza hotel, part of the Islazul chain, currently being remodeled and located next to the Zaza dam, the largest reservoir in the country, with a filling level of only 13 percent of its capacity.

The prime minister also insisted on the need to recover the emblematic tourist facility in the shortest possible time, in principle with at least twenty rooms.

The government visit ended this Thursday, but before Marrero’s final words, the deputy prime ministers Jorge Luis Tapia, Ramiro Valdés, Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella and Inés María Chapman intervened.

They all presented what they had observed during these two days in each of the municipalities visited, which were made up of a group of heads and vice-heads of various ministries and insisted on the aspects where to direct the greatest efforts.
