In the Villa Campestre sector, in the jurisdiction of Puerto Colombia, the authorities have adopted the measure of closing a road that is in poor condition.
This is Carrera 32, which connects Las Dunas Avenue or 133rd Street with Carrera 52, which leads to the British School or the Plaza Campestre Shopping Center, according to what was expressed by the community.
Mauro Suárez, head of the Puerto Colombia Planning Office, assured EL HERALDO that the decision was adopted during a technical committee made up of the Transit Office, the Urban Control and Risk Management Office to take “immediate” measures.
“The idea is that the road will be closed since the weekend with the aim of ensuring that no more weight is placed and to prevent the landslides from continuing. From the Risk Management Office, for its part, all support has been provided to mitigate risks to the community,” the official indicated.
Likewise, he explained that the mechanism to be used for closure is being defined, taking into account that “we do not want to do it with fences, which is the most immediate way, because thefts by recyclers have occurred in the sector.” .
He added that it was determined that the emergency was due to the sliding of a retaining wall on a private lot. For this reason, the owner identification process began.
“It has been determined that it is a long-abandoned work. The Urban Control Office is locating the owner, with the aim of taking him to take immediate measures regarding the solution to the landslides that are occurring on his lot,” he explained.
He maintained that the case is being studied in detail, taking into account that the rule makes it impossible for the municipal administration to advance investments in private properties: “We are looking for a legal way to be able to address this problem and guarantee the safety of the community.”
