With 15 investigations, doctoral theses and articles published in scientific journals, the province of Holguín will compete for the Annual National Health Award, one of the main awards in this sector in Cuba, which will be awarded soon in Havana.
Adelmar Agüero, president of the Provincial Council of Scientific Societies, highlighted that, included in the topics, primary health care, teenage pregnancy, the improvement of the quality of services and the formation of human capital stand out.
Also included are the treatment of chronic non-communicable diseases, health promotion and prevention of sexually transmitted infections, and the Maternal and Child Program, the manager highlighted.
Likewise, the Scientific Merit award for Life’s Work was awarded to the eminent pediatric surgeon Rafael Trinchet, with relevant virtues in favor of infants and attention to congenital malformations in the first hours of life.
At the same time, Dr. Julio Yamel Verdecia Reyes, general director of Health in the province, urged professionals to expand participation in this contest as a way to increase preparation and socialize the research achievements of the eastern territory, the third most densely populated. from Cuba.
The Annual National Health Award, in its 47th edition, will be awarded in Havana next December and is awarded to professionals with relevant results in studies linked to Medicine, in correspondence with the objectives, priorities and challenges of the sector.
It is chosen by doctors, stomatologists, psychologists, graduates in nursing and health technology, pharmaceutical, biochemistry, biologists, engineers, economists and other specialists and technicians, whose work contributes to improving population care indicators, efficiency and sustainability of institutions and programs.
