The Vice Minister of Arts, Cultural and Creative Economy, Jorge Ignacio Zorro Sánchez, was in an open dialogue with Ayda Mena, director of the Bachelor of Arts at the University of Magdalena. The objective of the dialogue space was to learn about the actions carried out by the University of Magdalena for professional training in the arts. Also read: Attention! The Vice Minister socialized the implementation of the presidential program ‘Sounds for the Construction of Peace’ in the department of Magdalena, which highlights the investment by 2024 of 5,000 billion pesos for comprehensive training in the arts aimed at 65 educational establishments in the department .

For their part, the Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta and businessmen from Magdalena attended the work table with Vice Minister Zorro, who announced how, through this program, this year more than 300,000 boys, girls, adolescents and young people and 3,400 trainers hired from all over the country, with the goal of reaching one million beneficiaries and a greater number of trainers in all regions of the country by 2026.

In the case of Magdalena, the vice minister clarified that it is among the 37,000 beneficiaries in 185 educational establishments in the departments of Atlántico, Bolívar, Guajira and Magdalena, through the agreement that is being implemented by the University of Atlántico. Among the attendees were members of the Inter-Union Committee of Magdalena and the University of Magdalena. A space where it was recognized that this program is a transformative process for the department, especially in rural sectors that are being affected by the armed conflict.

Emphasis was also placed on the importance of promoting comprehensive training in educational establishments on a permanent basis to enhance the talents of new generations.

According to information from the Ministry of Cultures: “Within the framework of the 2022-2026 development plan “Colombia World Power of Life”, the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge, through the Vice Ministry of Arts, and the Cultural and Creative Economy, from the Arts Directorate, is committed to carrying out cultural programs that radiate Cultures of Peace to the citizens. The Sounds for the Construction of Peace Program (PSCP) promotes Cultures of Peace in Colombia by promoting and strengthening artistic and musical practices, expressions and thoughts in their diversity, from a perspective of guaranteeing rights.

“The program will strengthen community and organizational initiatives related to artistic and musical practices, expressions and thoughts with special attention to PDET and ZOMAC municipalities, ethnic peoples and populations victimized by the armed conflict from a focus on reconstruction and strengthening of the social fabric for the peace building. Likewise, organizations, networks, management processes, associativity, circulation, mediation, cultural exchange and training for citizens, promoting dialogue between knowledge and musical practices, in the key of sustainability and developing artistic, musical, educational, training and generation of knowledge that promotes intercultural dialogue, local pedagogies, the construction of citizenship, collective leadership and environments of peace.”
