The Cuban authorities sent a water pipe guarded by the Police to a neighborhood in Old Havana where the population took to the streets to protest, after more than 10 days without access to the liquid.

Several hours after the protest, the territory’s Municipal Administration Council reported that the problem had been resolved with a pipe they sent to the scene.

“The population is being helped due to the water shortage,” says the brief note shared on Facebook, along with photos showing people waiting in line to fill their containers.

The protest occurred on Monday at 9:00 pm at the intersection of Egido and Acosta streets, where the Neighbors stopped traffic with stones and buckets to protest water shortages and the lack of response from the government.

Although the demonstration was peaceful, the Police were closely monitoring the entire time, according to a video released by the independent media. CubaNet.

Witnesses stated that the claimants only retired to their homes when the water pipe arrived.

The crisis with the water supply in that area is not a new problem, it is a situation that the residents of that part of the city are experiencing.

Last year, residents of Egido Street closed vehicle circulation in another protest. Just like now, on that occasion the government silenced them with a water pipe to calm things down, while the problems remained unresolved.
