A tragic plane accident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, June 26, in the municipality of Juan de Acosta, Atlántico. The small plane with registration HJ097, presumably belonging to the Aeroplus Los Campanos aviation school, crashed to the ground in the El Jobo sector of the Santa Rosa farm.
The police authorities received notification of the incident around 8:30 am, after alerts from the inhabitants of the Santa Verónica district. The death of the two occupants of the plane was confirmed.
The causes of the accident are still unknown. There are two preliminary hypotheses: a possible mechanical failure that led the pilot to try to return to base, or a request from the crew to return due to adverse weather conditions. The Civil Aeronautics has started the corresponding investigation.
This incident joins a series of recent air emergencies in the region. In September of last year, another aircraft made an emergency landing on the runway of the Motorsports Park racetrack in Tubará. In January 2022, an ultralight aircraft landed improvisedly in a wooded area of the same municipality.
