The president of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations, Dennis Francis, will travel to Cuba tomorrow for a working visit that will include a meeting with President Miguel Díaz-Canel, his office reported today.

The announced agenda, which will extend until June 29, also includes meetings with the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, and the Vice Minister of Public Health Tania Margarita Cruz.

The visit to the largest of the Antilles will focus on the importance of promoting peace, progress, prosperity and sustainability for all, with emphasis on the need to strengthen multilateralism to address global challenges and achieve a more equitable future. said a statement released here.

In addition, it will review Cuba’s progress and contribution to multilateralism and international cooperation, ongoing regional and global challenges, as well as the country’s continued active engagement in the United Nations.

Among other exchanges, Francis will meet with the United Nations resident coordinator in Cuba, Francisco Pichón, along with other members of the Country Team.

The diplomat, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, will exchange with representatives of the Federation of Cuban Women to learn about their achievements, opportunities and challenges they face.

Its itinerary also includes a keynote conference in the Aula Magna of the University of Havana with the theme Cuba and multilateralism: opportunities and challenges, with the participation of government officials, members of the diplomatic community, youth representatives, women leaders and academics.
