According to the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), the strategy seeks to generate emotional rapprochements between children and adolescents who have suffered a breakdown of parental ties. and adults who wish to join their lives as godparents and thus enable the emergence of a fraternal relationship between families of any type or marital status with them.
In that sense, the entity pointed out that Corazón’s godparents become a guide or mentor who accompanies them in the construction and development of their life projects. They can do this through different levels of involvement, such as visits to the institutions where they are located, daily outings, weekend outings and school holidays. Those who do so are not obliged to adopt the minor.
Some of the requirements for those who wish to apply are:
✓ Family or single person; married, permanent partners, over 25 years old.
✓ No criminal record.
✓ Have stable physical and mental health and psychological conditions.
✓ Colombian or foreign resident, without judicial records.
✓ Have time available to make contact once a week or once a month.
✓ Interest in building healthy and safe bonds.
✓ Ability to attend to and respect regulations and guidelines of ICBF, Institutions and Substitute Homes.
