Traffic on the Lucas Córdoba bridge, which connects San Miguel de Tucumán with Banda del Río Salí, will be interrupted again today – and the next few days – between 8:30 and 17:30.

This was confirmed to LA GACETA by the head of the Provincial Highway Directorate, Marcelo Nazur, who highlighted that the works that had been suspended due to bad weather will resume.

Last Monday, Nazur explained to our newspaper that it was necessary for the rain to stop and the sun to come out so that the aggregates lose excessive humidity and the work can continue.

The works that will be resumed consist of removing the bridge’s wearing layer, which is an asphalt layer, which has already been removed, and which is about five centimeters thick.

Next week it is expected that the horizontal demarcation of the bridge and the renewal of the traffic signals will be done. They want to leave the reflective signs well arranged on the elevation and others will be added, vertically, to indicate the different accesses, Nazur explained.

These maintenance works will require an investment of $120 million, it was reported.

Lucas Córdoba Bridge: traffic was restored, but work will continue from Thursday

For his part, the Secretary of Public Works of Banda del Río Salí, Juan Rayo, had explained that the lifting of the asphalt layer and the leveling of the undulations on the sides of the bridge road had already been carried out. This sector is the one most traveled by motorcyclists and cyclists, because it provides them with greater safety.

Alternative routes

With traffic interrupted by the Lucas Córdoba, the main connection route between the provincial capital and eastern towns, traffic jams are expected on other access roads, such as the Ingeniero Barros bridge, which leads to Alderetes and the Benjamín Matienzo airport. In fact, through Alderetes you can reach Banda del Río Salí and other towns.

Another alternative is to head south and cross the Salí River over the bridge located at the access to Route 9, which is at the height of the San Cayetano neighborhood of the capital.

In any case, either of these two possibilities lengthens the travel time for workers and for all those who need to travel to the capital to study or carry out procedures.
