Ñublense rescued, this Wednesday night, at the Fiscal stadium in Talca, a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Rangers for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the southern regional phase of the Chile Cup.
The Talquinos opened the score at 24′ through their center forward Gustavo Gotti, but the Chillanejo team reacted in the second half and tied at 52′ through midfielder Matías Plaza.
The balance of Rooms
In a press conference, Ñublense coach, Mario Salas, stated that “in the first half we generated some chances, we were incisive and then Rangers, with long strokes, worried us and scored the goal. In the second half, we handled the ball more and achieved the tie. The result is fair. The key remains open for the second game and we hope to close it at home with our people.”
Salas added that “it was difficult for us to adapt to this field, which was not in good condition, although it was designed to go up to First Division.”

Salas explained that the departure of Rodrigo Cisternas, Emanuel Herrera and Benjamín Araneda was on their own initiative and confirmed that “a player from midfield or upwards” will arrive.
Ñublense will seek qualification against Rangers on Sunday, at 3 p.m., at the Nelson Oyarzún stadium in Chillán.
