Weretilneck announced that in December “we want the train to unite again” Viedma and Bariloche

Governor Alberto Weretilneck announced through social media that progress is being made in improvements and the repair of ten kilometers of tracks between Viedma and San Antonio Oeste with the mission of reactivating that section that was suspended last year. He also assured that progress is being made “in a new concession with a very good response from the national government” for the Tren del Valle.

In December of last year, the Province decided to suspend the Patagonian Train service between Viedma and Bariloche, due to economic and safety problems on the roads. Almost six months later, at the end of May, The return of that service was launched, although only between San Antonio Oeste and Bariloche.

In a tour that the president took at the SAO train station this Wednesdays, stated on social networks that “we want the train to link the Rio Negro capital with Bariloche again in December.”

In that sense, he assured that it is carried out “with an investment from the provincial State of $400 million we are advancing in improvements and in the repair of 10 km of roads between Viedma and SAO.

On the other hand, he referred to the progress on the new service public passenger transport for the Alto Valle, which will cover from Chichinales to Cipolletti and Cinco Saltos.

“We are making progress in a new concession with a very good response from the national government, not only so that the Patagonian Train continues running, but “also to make the Valley Train a reality,” said Weretilneck.

He added that “trains are not just another form of transportation, they are symbol of federalism, part of our history and our identity, therefore, our commitment is total.
