In the final stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné, BORA’s Primoz Roglic nearly lost the final title to Visma’s Jorgenson. Within a few kilometers he had an indirect ally, Giulio Ciccone of Lidl Trek.
This is how Ciccone experienced these last kilometers of the final stage with Roglic: “I think he suffered a little, but he is a great champion and knows how to manage it”, yes, he managed to solve it in a good way: “He did everything perfectly in the end”, he commented for Cycling Pro Net.
Ciccone wanted to finish off the work his teammates did with a target: “We had done a great job with the team, so I had to try, right? I had to try to see what happened in the end. In the end I think we had a good stage, a good week. The result was not the best, but we can be very happy with the form and performance we did,” added Giulio.
The Italian has already owned the mountain jersey in both the Giro and the Tour, it will be necessary to see if he seeks that title or the general classification after his participation in Dauphiné: “I feel very good. “It’s the first real race I’ve done in a long time, but like I said, the main goal is the Tour in July and the form is already good and improving, so I think July will be a really good month,” he concluded.
