The Euro 2024 Fanzone in Berlin was evacuated after German police found a suspicious object in the area where fans entered. The police in the German capital announced the discovery, as well as an arrest of a person who could be related, while bomb-sniffing dogs and ordnance disposal experts were rushed to the scene instantly.
The police explained that they found the object during a routine check before fans arrived at the venue to watch the opening match of the European Championship between Germany and Scotland: “A suspicious object was found in the entrance area of the Scheidemannstrasse Fanzone. This area is currently not available to fans. “Our colleagues are checking the object,” The police communicated through social networks. Beate Ostertag, Berlin police spokesperson, said: “A security perimeter has been created. “The lump is being examined now.”
