CLEVELAND — Ben Lively won his career-best fourth straight start and Kyle Manzardo hit a two-run single to lead the Cleveland Guardians to a 3-2 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday.

Lively (5-2) allowed two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings, striking out four and walking one. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 1.90 ERA in four home starts this season.

The Guardians are Lively’s fourth team since he came to the majors in 2017. The 32-year-old spent three years pitching in South Korea between 2019 and 2021.

The Guardians have won nine straight at Progressive Field and have the MLB’s best record at their home field of 20-6. This is Cleveland’s longest home winning streak since 2017.

It was also the 12th win in their last 15 games overall for the Guardians, who lead the American League Central Division.

For the Nationals, Puerto Rican Eddie Rosario 4-0. Mexican Joey Meneses 4-0 with an RBI. Venezuelan Ildemaro Vargas 3-0.

For the Guardians, Dominican José Ramírez was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Puerto Rican Jonathan Rodríguez 2-0. Venezuelan Gabriel Arias 2-0.
