After our review and taking the pulse of the best video games of the first half of the year, whose balance was very positive, the time has come to anticipate what will arrive between now and December by sharing the most anticipated titles and the most interesting projects in the same place.
From here on, a note: we decided that there would be 13 video games because it was a reasonable number, neither too short nor too long, but we have left many that are worth it in the pipeline and that is when you can participate: the selection is not exclusive and we let you expand through the comments, leaving you the last word. Which does not mean that, as with our best lists and arcade classics, we have added some surprises along the way.
Without further ado, below you will find more than a dozen video games to keep track of very closely throughout the second half of 2024. The conclusion, of course, we already give you in advance: You won’t have time to get bored.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Ubisoft took too long to bring its flagship saga to feudal Japan, and that takes its toll on the novelty factor of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, its creators know very well how to stand out both from other great open-world and samurai games and from previous installments: we can alternate between two completely different protagonists at the playable level and the variable weather enters the equation. The objective? Start a new era within the franchise.
AstroBot
Team ASOBI is clear: the next game of AstroBot It is not content with being a fantasy for lovers of platform games, but also aims to be the greatest tribute ever made to the 30 years of PlayStation legacy. Which does not take away something that will work in its favor: the genuine effort to squeeze out all the possibilities of the DualSense as a control system.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 It is not the return of an annual saga, but a turning point for the franchise: Activision is betting very hard on evolving the gameplay while retaining the action at its highest point in its three main experiences: the campaign, the multiplayer and some zombies that come back in rounds. The result: a contender for the best RPG of the year, and we will not settle for anything less.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
Bandai Namco resurrects the Budokai Tenkaichi saga in a big way: more than 160 Dragon Ball characters, from the incorrigible Master Roshi to Son Goku Ultra Instinct, will collide in widely destructible environments supported by the power of the Unreal Engine. Of course, the essentials have not been lost in the process: the story modes return with alternative twists and split-screen multiplayer, perfect for couch-surfing.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Indy’s next great adventure will not be on the big screen: Bethesda will give us the opportunity to put on the legendary hat and that jacket seasoned by great dangers and discoveries. What’s more, if you have Game Pass, you can play it at launch.
As expected from the creators of the saga Wolfenstein, we will whip the Nazis in first person and solve new puzzles, but best of all is that it is, in its own right, the greatest video game ever made around the character. The best? In a matter of months we will clear up the mystery.
Bonus Phase: Age of Empires Mobile
