With Phoenix Suns down 2 games, is season over with loss in Game 3?

Phoenix Suns Insider Duane Rankin discusses how the Suns are down two games. With a loss in Game 3, here’s why he sees their 2024 NBA season being over.

Some fans started leaving right near the end of the third quarter of Friday night’s Game 3 at Footprint Center.

Then a small, but noticeable amount of them started chanting, ‘Fire Vo-gel!” as in Suns head coach Frank Vogel.

That’s where the Phoenix Suns are right now in facing elimination following their 126-109 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 3 to trail 3-0 in their best-of-7 Western Conference first-round series.

No NBA team has come back from a 3-0 series deficit. NBA teams are 151-0 when up 3-0 in a series.

At the end of the 2023 season, Mat Ishbia’s first year as team owner, the Suns fired Monty Williams, who coached the Suns to three straight playoff appearances, including the 2021 NBA Finals. They then hired Vogel, who coached LeBron James and the Lakers to the 2019-20 NBA championship, but was fired two seasons later by the Lakers.

Ishbia was sitting courtside for Friday’s game.
